GOD’S PROVIDENTIAL SYSTEM

“You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.” Psalm 73:24

It’s time to follow our spiritual GPS!

Having a GPS can be so beneficial, especially when traveling to places we’ve not been before. We put in our current location, and then add our destination, and it plots out the best way to get from here to there. The Global Positioning System takes into account all sorts of things that we are unaware of when plotting our course. Along the way, its “voice” counsels as we travel, giving direction at the time needed.

An additional benefit of a GPS is that it compensates for our mistakes. If we take a wrong turn, it recalculates from where we are NOW and still routes us to the original destination. It’s easy to see how God’s guidance in our lives correlates so well with this.

The Psalmist (Asaph, not David in this case) relays his trust in God’s counsel in this passage. If we read the whole chapter, (Psalm 73 NLT) we see that Asaph had allowed his thought process to sidetrack him. He’d been doing some spiritual “daydream driving,” and he had missed God’s counseling voice telling him to turn away from that line of thought. When he came to his senses and realized he’d missed a turn, he refocused on God’s voice.

From our beginning, God has plotted a course for our lives (see Jeremiah 1:5). He knows the best course for us to take. He’s even willing to recalculate along the way. It’s pretty obvious that this trip we all take from birth to death is one that can’t be repeated and is never the same for any two people. It’s always, quite literally, an unknown road. If we'll listen to God’s counsel, we'll end up at a “glorious” destination.

We all come equipped with an internal, spiritual GPS. In His providence, God has taken our current location and He’s plugged in the destination of Heaven. He’s plotted the best course. He’s taken into account all the things unknown to us that would cause us to get lost, and yet, we still can. His voice guides us along, and if we miss a turn, He’s willing to recalculate. I LOVE my GPS!

For now, I'll be sharing some Blogs I wrote a while ago. I hope you enjoy reading them for the first time or being reminded of some "always relevent" truths from God's Word!
